The Story of Ondo Lintong Coffee

Lintong Coffee Heritage
Since 2000

Fourth Generation Legacy

We are the fourth generation continuing the coffee tradition in Lintongnihuta, North Sumatra – a region long known to the world as home to one of the finest arabica coffees: Lintong Coffee or Blue Batak Coffee.

The Beginning (2000)

This journey began in 2000, when James Jestri Sihombing (third generation) started the family coffee business. At that time, he established a partnership with PT Voll Coffee Indonesia, a significant step that opened doors for our coffee to be recognized internationally.

International Recognition

Since then, our home and coffee plantation have become a destination for guests from various countries – from America, Japan, Australia, to other nations – who want to see firsthand how Blue Batak coffee is processed from fresh red beans to high-quality green beans.

Blue Batak Coffee Excellence

Blue Batak Coffee is not just a name. It is a single origin arabica coffee that can only be found in the land of Lintongnihuta, North Sumatra. Its smooth taste, rich fruit and chocolate aroma, and unique characteristic touch make it different from any coffee in the world.

Coffee is Heritage

For us, coffee is not just a commodity – coffee is heritage. Every process we do with care:

  • Selecting the best red beans directly from the plantation
  • Processing with special methods passed down through generations
  • Maintaining quality to meet international specialty coffee standards

Our Vision

For more than two decades, we have remained faithful to the same principles: maintaining quality, respecting tradition, and introducing the taste of Lintong coffee to all corners of the world.

Our vision is to become guardians of Lintong coffee heritage, while continuing to innovate to meet global market tastes without losing the authentic flavor that makes this coffee special.

"Every cup of Blue Batak coffee is a story – a story about the land of Lintong, the hard work of farmers, and pride in an invaluable heritage."

Frequently Asked Questions

FAQ

How does Ondo Coffee ensure bean quality?

We implement strict quality control processes at every stage. This starts from selecting farmer partners, training on proper harvesting techniques, monitoring processing methods, and ends with sample testing in our coffee laboratory. Each batch of coffee beans undergoes physical assessment and cupping tests by our certified Q Graders to ensure only premium beans are shipped to our customers.

Does Ondo Coffee work directly with farmers?

Yes, we establish direct partnerships with coffee farmers throughout Indonesia. This direct trade approach allows us to pay farmers fair prices, monitor farming methods to ensure quality and sustainability, and provide technical support to improve their harvest yields.

What makes Indonesian coffee unique?

Indonesian coffee has uniqueness due to various geographical and cultural factors. The volcanic soil on many Indonesian islands provides rich minerals for coffee growth. Various microclimates, local coffee varieties, and traditional processing methods such as "wet hulling" in Sulawesi or "semi-washed" process in Sumatra all contribute to distinctive flavor profiles for each region.

How to order Ondo coffee beans?

For wholesale orders, you can contact our sales team through the Contact page. We typically work with minimum orders of 60kg (1 sack) but can accommodate special arrangements for specific needs. For samples, we offer 1kg sample packages from each variety with a nominal fee to cover shipping.

How is Ondo Coffee's commitment to sustainability?

Sustainability is at the core of our business. We support organic and environmentally friendly farming practices, provide training to farmers on water and soil conservation, run replanting programs, and use recyclable packaging. We also reinvest part of our profits into community projects in plantation areas, including education and basic infrastructure.
